Taking the High Road

Our host in Santa Fe arrived home safely and after a quick de-briefing we were on our way. You can take two routes north to Taos; the low road runs through the Rio Grande valley. The high road runs through the mountains. We took the high road.
First stop - Santuaria di Chimayo - very old, very famous. Here's the pics.

On to lunch at the Rancho di Chimayo. Tortillas with home made guacamole (which was fantabulous), tortilla soup and a Midori Melon Marguerita.

The approach to Taos was out of this world. Trees, high meadows, golden cottonwoods. We exceeded 8,000 feet elevation.
