It's Blackberry Season - and I don't mean the phone

Who knew picking blackberries was a blood sport? From the look of my shins I need to smarten up and wear long pants next time...but it was so worth it. Just down the road from the b&b someone had a big bowl of plums out by the roadside - free for the taking.  So an afternoon's urban foraging yielded some tasty bounty. This will be dessert for sure.
Wednesday we went out on a zodiac tour with Ian Gidney from Gulf Islands Safari Tours. There were 4 of us on the boat and the orcas weren't in the area so we did a wildlife tour instead. We headed over to Active Pass where the Fraser River meets the incoming tide. Lots of churning up of the water creates great feeding. We saw seals and eagles.

We leave on Wedesday morning so it was our last Saturday for the "Saturday market". Just took a few shots down McPhillips Street while having a mint tea on the patio.
